Travel to the Blue Mountains
Relax in our comfortable 14 seat Mercedes Tourer Vehicles
for the 1 hour drive west to the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Along the way your guide will explain your day, and tell you about the history and uniqueness of Australia, its wildlife and culture.
Aboriginal Culture at Muru Mittigar
Our first stop brings us to Muru Mittigar Cultural Centre, where we'll explore aboriginal culture, food, medicine, art and tools. This is a great opportunity to gain an insight into the world's most ancient surviving culture, and talk one-on-one with indigenous people. This is a relaxed, informative and open environment in which to learn about this fascinating and diverse culture.
Staying away from the crowds
Leaving Muru Mittigar we head up into the Mountains. Because we're not tied to a set itinerary, we can design our day based on the opportunities that will present the best the Mountains have to offer on the day. We keep away from the large tourist buses and the crowds, concentrating on the smaller (but equally spectacular) lookouts, bushwalks and reserves that will give us a real experience of this beautiful part of Australia. We'll visit several lookouts throughout the day, giving us fabulous views of the Jamison, Grose and Megalong Valleys, the Three Sisters and Echo Point.
Lunch with a view
At lunchtime we visit the beautiful serenity of The Conservation Hut, by Wentworth Falls. This is a spectacular location from which to explore the local area via short walks, and to take in lunch with a view. The Conservation Hut boasts a verandah with spectacular views of the Jamison Valley, as well as cosy fire-side tables for when the weather gets cooler. Lunch is included in the tour price, so there are no hidden extras to worry about. You'll find plenty of hot or cold options to choose from, plus your choice of tea, coffee or water.
Stretching your legs
Throughout the day there'll be the opportunity to get out and enjoy a few short walks. This will include walks to lookout points, perhaps a short rainforest or clifftop walk, and a stroll around the stunning ancient volcanic grounds at Euroka Clearing, where kangaroos, birds and other wildlife abound. While these walks are on rough bush tracks, they're neither very long, nor taxing - just a great chance to take a stroll in the Australian bush!
Getting up close and personal with the Wildlife
In the afternoon we'll head back down the mountains via the Blue Mountains National Park. Here we'll make our way to the ancient volcanic crater that forms Euroka Clearing. This fertile bush valley is the perfect setting for spotting iconic Australian animals in their natural bush environment. No wildlife parks with crowds and fences here - just a beautiful setting where you can enjoy kangaroos and wallabies in the wild, and watch the antics of Australia's vast array of colourful, noisy birds and fascinating animals.
Returning to Sydney
Leaving Euroka Clearing we head down the Mountains to Sydney. There'll be time to enjoy a film or documentary on the onboard TV, or to snooze away the day's indulgences! You'll return to Sydney between approximately 5.00 - 5.30pm, with a complimentary drop-off to your city hotel or transit point. This leaves plenty of time to relax or shower before an evening exploring the fabulous restaurants, events and nightlife of Sydney.
